A place of you and I
Melina c. Berrian
the sound of birds chirping
sunset along the lines
the mouth of a river
filled with life
i’ve dreamed about you
more times than i can count
sitting by the river
with me in your arms
those brown eyes reflect in my mind
a reflection of perfection
seeing you in a place
i can’t define
where the wind blows
the water is calm
trees grows
children run at dawn
where cows are herded
chicken serving as alarm
i’ve looked far and wide
a place i recall only at night
a vision in my mind,
i keep an image of you
in fragments of my heart
perfection is a place
where our hearts meet
somewhere we sit
under the tree of beautiful ruins
watching the world go to sleep
i’ve held you in my arms
a place i can’t recall
my feet haven’t touched its soil
but i know the path
it’s at the back of my mind
when the sun rises
and it’s dawn
slumber leaves a fragment of your touch
stay with me at last
i meet you in the halls of my mind
where you exist day or night
