Submissions Guidelines.
Submissions Open
January 27 - March 28
We publish three issues a year, April, September, and December. We accept general submissions for poetry and prose between two reading periods. We also run the Abu Sherif Poetry Fellowship for Liberian writers and the Kofi Awoonor Poetry Prize.
Pepper Coast Mag accepts submissions from Africans, people of color, those in the diaspora, descendants, and affiliates of those above. We have no restrictions on themes, genres, styles, or forms, provided the work is well-written. We accept submissions of prose and poetry for now. At Pepper Coast Mag, we believe writers should have full control of their work, so all copyright and publication rights remain with the writer at all times. Unfortunately, we cannot offer payment to our writers at this stage, though we hope to do so soon.
Guidelines for poetry submissions
All submissions must be single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman or Garamond font in either .doc/.docx
Do not include your name and email address anywhere in the document except in the body of the email. The document must be saved with the title of the submission for easy identification.
The body of the mail must contain your name, email address, nationality, and a short bio note of not more than fifty words.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed. However, you must inform us if your submission is accepted elsewhere.
We reply to all submissions. If you fail to hear from us, consider reaching out.
Guidelines for prose submissions
We will be overwhelmed by reading your stories, irrespective of style and theme.
We recommend you send us average-length stories
Do not send us already-published stories
Send your submission as a doc or docx
Do not include your identity in the document
We do not have a problem with simultaneous submissions as long as you vow to pull out your submission after it's been accepted elsewhere
We believe writers should be acknowledged for blessing the world with breathtaking stories, but our income cannot permit us to pay contributors since we are a group of students who barely afford the cost of pamphlets for lecture notes. However, we assure you that we will spread your stories to our appreciable number of readers
Now, you can go ahead and send us your submission via peppercoastlitsubmissions@gmail.com
We aim to make a decision and inform you of your submissions as soon as possible.
If you do not receive a response from us in two months, please send us an email. peppercoastmag@gmail.com
