SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

POETRY SUBMISSIONS

Poems should be single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman or Garamond. Submit as a .doc or .docx file only. Do not include your name or identifying information in the manuscript. File name should reflect the title of the submission. Submit not more than three poems.

In the body of your email, please include: Full name, Email address, Nationality. A brief bio (maximum 50 words)Simultaneous submissions are permitted. Please notify us promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere.

PROSE SUBMISSIONS

Maximum length: 2,500 words. Submit as a .doc or .docx file only. Manuscripts must be anonymized (no identifying information)Previously published work will not be considered. Simultaneous submissions are permitted; however, please withdraw your work immediately if it is accepted elsewhere.

We will not accept or consider submissions that are wholly or partially generated by artificial intelligence. All work submitted must be the original creation of the author. Any submission found to contain AI-generated content may be disqualified from consideration.

We welcome work that is inventive, resonant, and crafted with care. We publish three issues annually: March, August, and November. General submissions are accepted between production cycles. In addition to our regular issues, we administer: The Liberia Creative Writing Fellowship (for Liberian writers) The Kofi Awoonor Poetry Prize.

We warmly invite submissions from Africans, people of color, diasporic writers, descendants, and affiliated communities. We impose no thematic, stylistic, or formal restrictions. We seek work that is original, compelling, and of high literary quality. Contributors retain full copyright and publication rights at all times. While we are not currently able to offer honoraria, we are actively working toward compensating contributors as part of our long-term development.
