Pepper Coast Library Project intends to promote reading and writing culture in Liberia by making books available to young people and students.

Since 2024, Pepper Coast Inc. has been working to get as many books as possible into Liberia and set up a reading in Monrovia where students will be able to access them. Pepper Coast Inc.’s members who are studying in the United States and Europe have been buying used books from public libraries and thrift bookstores and receiving donations from public libraries, friends, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

So far, we have accumulated over 6,000 books, which include children's books, reference materials, poetry collections, novels, and non-fiction works. We intend to establish our first reading room by the end of 2027. This will allow us to start reading and writing programs in schools around Monrovia. We are interested in hosting reading contests, spelling bees, and creative writing workshops for students.
